Fast, affordable repairs that restore your windscreen's integrity in as little as 30 minutes. We come to you.

Don't Replace It — Repair It

A small chip might seem harmless, but left untreated it can quickly spread into a crack that needs a full replacement. Using advanced resin injection technology, our technicians fill and seal the chip so it virtually disappears — restoring the glass's full strength in around 30 minutes.

Is your damage repairable?

  • Smaller than a 50p coin
  • No more than two chips on the screen
  • Damage hasn't started to crack or spread
  • Not in Zone A (directly in front of the driver)

Not sure? Call us and we'll advise honestly — no obligation. If a replacement is needed we'll tell you straight.

Windscreen Zones Explained

Your windscreen is divided into zones A–D. Where your chip is located determines whether it can be repaired — and whether your car will pass its MOT.

Diagram showing windscreen zones A, B, C and D used for MOT testing
Zone A
Directly in front of the driver

A 290mm vertical strip centred on the steering wheel. The most critical zone — any chip larger than 10mm is an automatic MOT fail. Even small blemishes here distract the driver's eye; prompt repair is always our recommendation.

Zone B
Surrounding Zone A

Either side of Zone A, within the wiper sweep. Damage larger than 40mm here causes an MOT failure.

Zone C
Passenger side

The rest of the swept wiper area on the passenger side. The same 40mm rule applies.

Zone D
Outer edges & corners

Outside the wiper sweep. Least critical for vision, though large or spreading damage should still be addressed.

Chip Repair FAQs

How long does a chip repair take?
A typical chip repair takes approximately 30 minutes from start to finish. You can wait with your vehicle and drive away as soon as the repair is complete.
Will the chip completely disappear?
While our advanced resin technology makes the chip far less visible, a slight mark may remain. However, the structural integrity of the glass is fully restored and the repair meets all MOT and British Standards requirements.
Is chip repair covered by my insurance?
Yes, most motor insurance policies cover windscreen chip repair at no cost to you — with no excess to pay and no impact on your no-claims bonus. We handle the insurance claim directly on your behalf.
Can all chips be repaired?
Most chips smaller than a 50p coin can be repaired, provided the damage hasn't started to crack or spread. Chips directly in the driver's critical line of sight (Zone A) may require replacement rather than repair. Our technician will assess the damage and advise you honestly.
What happens if I don't get my chip repaired?
An untreated chip can spread due to temperature changes, vibrations, or road bumps — turning a simple repair into an expensive full windscreen replacement. It can also cause your vehicle to fail its MOT. We strongly recommend getting chips repaired as soon as possible.
How much does a chip repair cost?
On most insurance policies, chip repair is completely free — no excess to pay and no impact on your no-claims bonus. For private (non-insurance) repairs, prices start from around £45. Either way, it is significantly cheaper than a full windscreen replacement.
Can I drive immediately after a chip repair?
Yes. Unlike a full windscreen replacement, a chip repair does not require any curing time. The resin is UV-cured during the repair process, and you can drive away as soon as the technician has finished — usually within 30 minutes.
What types of windscreen damage can be repaired?
We can repair most common types of damage including bullseye chips, star breaks, half-moon chips, and small combination breaks. The key factors are the size (smaller than a 50p coin), location (not directly in the driver's critical line of sight), and whether the damage has started to crack or spread. Our technician will assess the damage and advise honestly.
